Isabelle Massart-Bursh
Born in Belgium, Europe in 1966, Isabelle
Massart-Bursh arrived in Louisiana in 1988 through CODOFIL to teach
French to the Vernon Parish public school children. With a background in
Art Education from her own country, her desire has always been to go
back to her first love: art. This opportunity became a reality in 2001
when Leesville Junior High School was searching for an art teacher. Ever
since, Mrs. Massart-Bursh has been teaching 7th and 8th graders at LJHS.
The love of art has dominated Mrs.
Massart-Bursh's life all her life. Being in Europe, she was immersed in
art and beautiful architecture. She traveled to France frequently and in
1987 won a contest for the best drawing in an art exhibition in Lillie.
She was part of many successful exhibitions in Belgium and Holland.
She has traveled extensively, to Egypt (for a
year, where her Dad worked), France, Holland, Mexico, Guatemala and many
other places.
Her art has been influenced by many cultures
around the world. Isabelle's work is a composition of colors, words and
mediums. It reflects her love of life, people and peace.
